Creating Art that Connects, Evokes Emotions and Offers a Moment of Pause

Hi there! I'm Susan Boras, and I'm so glad you're here.

Art reaches across all the noise of daily life and connects us. That's what I create in every piece: a connection between you and the emotions that make life meaningful.

If you've ever felt that little spark of recognition when something resonates with your own memories and experiences, you understand what I'm talking about. Growing up on a farm gave me a deep connection to the natural world. Animals, changing seasons, the way morning light hits dewdrops—these moments still take my breath away and find their way onto my canvases. I paint to share these feelings with you so that you can experience them in your own way.

Maybe it's the warmth of nostalgia, or that flutter of joy when you remember a perfect summer day, or simply a moment where you can pause and breathe. When I paint I create a chance for you to step away from the rush and reconnect with the beauty that surrounds you every day.

Working with acrylics gives me the freedom to dig into texture and color. I use brushes and palette knives, but you'll also find me working with sponges or even my fingers when the painting calls for it. Each piece starts as a blank canvas, but as I layer on texture and color, it tells me its story. It's like having a conversation where I'm listening as much as I'm speaking.

When you bring one of my pieces home, it becomes more than decoration. It transforms your space and becomes that friend who's always there to lift your spirits or help you find a quiet moment in a busy day. Art that touches your heart, sparks conversations, and reminds you of all the beautiful, complex emotions that make you wonderfully human.

What My Artwork Brings to You

When you welcome one of my pieces into your home, you're getting so much more than something beautiful for your wall. You're inviting in an experience that becomes part of your daily life in the most wonderful ways.

  • It's your bridge to your own story. If you're someone who treasures memories, my art becomes this beautiful connector, linking you to your past, your relationships, and those moments in nature that made you feel truly alive. Collectors tell me how a painting suddenly brought back a memory of their grandmother's garden, or reminded them of that perfect vacation sunset. There's something special about feeling that sense of belonging and shared experience when you look at a piece that speaks to you.

  • It gives you permission to pause. If you're feeling overwhelmed by life's demands, you need those little sanctuaries of calm. I paint these moments of reflection right into each piece, so when you walk by that painting in your hallway or sit with your morning coffee in front of it, you have this built-in invitation to just...breathe. To think about what really matters, whether it's remembering someone you love, a place that changed you, or simply appreciating the beauty that's all around you.

  • It brings joy into your everyday. I craft every element to lift your spirits, from the colours and the textures to the way light plays across the surface. If you're searching for something that will consistently brighten your day, collectors tell me their piece makes them smile every time they see it, filling their space with wonderful energy. Sometimes it's pure joy, sometimes it's that sweet nostalgia that makes you feel grateful for all the beautiful moments in your life. Either way, it's there for you, day after day, like a visual hug.

  • Every piece carries its own story. Each painting develops its own personality and narrative as I work on it. By the time it's finished, it's carrying this whole story of emotions and experiences. When you bring it home, it starts telling your story too. It becomes part of your family's history, witnessing your celebrations, your quiet moments, your daily rituals.

  • It's designed to grow with you. I don't paint trendy pieces that'll feel dated in a few years. I create art that has timeless quality while still feeling completely personal to you. If you're looking for something that will stand the test of time, your piece will transform your space into something that truly feels like home. A place where you can find calm when you need it, inspiration when you're seeking it, and beauty that never gets old.

This is why I create. Art is how I share stories and create connections with people like you. Whether I'm in my studio with paint on my hands, connecting with collectors, or developing my next series, it all comes back to the same thing: creating something that will inspire you and remind you that we're all connected in this beautiful, complicated, wonderful world.

From Academic to Artist – Taming the Inner Critic

Taming the Inner Critic and Embracing Change

Overwhelmed. Exhausted. Mentally drained. Stressed out. Physically tired.

Looking back now, it’s hard for me to admit I felt all those things such a short time ago. I know I wasn’t alone – so many of my colleagues and college students were feeling the same way post-COVID.

Figuring out what the ‘new normal’ might look like seemed daunting.

They Wanted to Share Their Story With You

  • "My wife and I are so happy with the lavender field painting by Susan. Every time I gaze at it, it makes me want to step right into the canvas and run my fingers through the lavender, feel the warmth of the sun and go explore the cottage in the distance. The colors and thick textures make me want to reach out and touch every time I walk by! The painting has found its place front and centre in our living room where we can experience the overwhelming calmness. Susan’s beautiful soul shines through her art, and her passion and life experiences leap off the canvas. Thank you, Susan!"

  • "Susan did an outstanding job on our commission paintings of Penelope, the Mucklecoo muse for my great niece. The fun-loving spirit and happy feeling of Penelope shows through the chosen vibrant colours of yellow and soft blues. How exciting for a young girl to feel! From start to finish, Susan explained each process and benefits of size, dimensions, color, enhancement, and ensuring I’d receive the final product in a safe way. Susan is totally committed to showing her creative side and also providing excellent customer service. Thank you Susan."
