Where the Wild Belongs
This is where the story deepens.
The Collections Story
I have always found it easier to connect than to explain why connection matters so much to me.
As a shy, introverted girl growing up on a farm, animals were my first teachers of belonging. They did not ask me to be different. They simply were, and so was I, and that was enough. As I grew older my curiosity shifted to people. How they think. Why they do what they do. How a single relationship can shape the course of a life, and how the loss of one can quietly reshape everything.
In the corporate world I watched connection on a grand scale. I saw how the spirit of a team could make or break everything around it. I saw how people leaned toward each other in moments of joy and pulled away in moments of pain. I became fascinated by all of it.
These paintings explore that fascination. The bond between animals. The quiet understanding between women. The way we reach for each other even when we do not have the words. Connection is not something we find. It is something we are made of.

SISTERLY LOVE 1
These two were commissioned, but the moment I began painting them I knew they belonged to this collection.
They are dancing toward you down a garden path, wild hair flying, boots kicking, laughter written into every brushstroke. Denim jackets and striped leggings and the kind of sunglasses that say we stopped caring what anyone thinks a long time ago.
This is what connection looks like when it has had decades to ripen. Not polished. Not posed. Just two women who know each other completely, moving through the world together with the kind of joy that only comes from being truly, safely known.
Sisterhood does not always arrive by blood. Sometimes it is chosen. But once it is real, it is one of the most unbreakable forces in a human life.

SISTERLY LOVE 2
And now they are dancing away from you.
You catch them mid-skip, wild hair streaming behind them, striped socks and denim shorts and the particular energy of two people who have forgotten entirely that the world exists beyond the two of them.
The flowers lean in as they pass. The tall trees stand witness. The blue sky holds it all without comment.
This is the other side of sisterhood. The private side. The shared secrets and the whispered conversations and the stories that belong only to the two of them. The ones that will never need to be explained to anyone else because they were always only ever meant for each other.
You are not invited into this moment, this private side...you are simply privileged to witness it. And somehow, that makes it even more beautiful.

GUARDIANS OF SUNSHINE
My grandmother loved her garden.
She was a tiny woman with her hair pulled into a bun and an apron tied at her waist. She spoke very little English, yet we communicated effortlessly. She told stories with her hands, her expressions, the rise and fall of her voice. Entire conversations happened between us without needing many words at all.
At the edge of her garden stood the sunflowers. Tall and golden and cheerful. As a child I watched how their faces followed the sun across the sky, always turning toward the light. In my imagination they were standing guard over the garden. Protecting it somehow.
I called them the happy flowers.
Grandmothers often carry something even deeper than we realise. They hold the stories of a family. The traditions. The quiet threads that connect one generation to the next.
These sunflowers are painted for her. Guardians of sunshine. Guardians of memory. Guardians of the stories that shape who we are.

PENELOPE
Meet Penelope. A Highland cow, or as the Scots so perfectly call her, a Mucklecoo. Painted with brush and finger and every bit of feeling I could put into her, she arrived on the canvas with that look already in her eyes. You know the one. Mischievous. Knowing. Slightly amused by everything happening around her.
She took me straight back to the farm. To my father and the gentle giants he loved. To the discovery, which anyone who has spent time with cattle will confirm, that each one has a personality as distinct and layered as any person you have ever met.
Penelope is asking you something. She has been asking it since the moment she was painted. What do you see when you look at her? And what does the answer tell you about yourself?
Animals have always been my teachers. Penelope is no exception.

ECOUTOPIA
This painting began as a vision of what is possible.
A coastal landscape where wind turbines stand tall on the cliffs, their blades turning with quiet purpose. Pristine water flowing toward the sea. Green meadows and golden land thriving alongside the technology we have built. And above it all, the Earth itself suspended in a swirling blue sky, looking down on everything we are capable of when we choose wisely.
Connection in this collection is not only between people or between humans and animals. It is the deeper connection. The one that reminds us we are not separate from this planet. We are part of it.
EcoUtopia is not a fantasy. It is a choice. One we make together, or not at all.

AUTUMN'S WHISPERING
This painting grew from my daily walks through the park as the season turned.
The sound of dried leaves underfoot. That particular crisp air that arrives one morning and changes everything. The birch trees standing white and still against the darkening world around them, their bark luminous in the fading light, the leaves at their feet blazing one last time in red and orange and gold.
Autumn does not whisper quietly. It whispers loudly, if you are paying attention. It tells us that transformation is not something to fear. That there is profound beauty in letting go. That the most vivid colours often arrive right before the release.
This collection is about connection. And autumn reminds us that connection is not only about holding on. Sometimes it is about being present for the moment of change in someone else's life, or your own, and finding it beautiful anyway.
