I grew up playing in aspen groves along the river. Those forests were where I went to think, to breathe, to feel held by something larger than myself.
This painting is that memory, alive in colour. The birch trunks stand close together like old companions, their white bark glowing against the wild crimson of the forest floor. The red does not whisper here. It dances. Bold and unapologetic, the way nature is when it is fully itself.
If you look closely enough, you might catch something watching from between the trees. The forest has always had that quality. The feeling that you are never quite alone in it.
