I painted this after one of my first hikes on the British Columbia West Coast. The climb up The Stawamus Chief in Squamish asked everything of me. And then, without warning, the path opened into a meadow. Wildflowers in every colour. Mountains standing watch. My breath coming back to me.
This painting is that moment. The one that arrives after the hardest stretch, when colour returns and the world reminds you that rest was always waiting. Renewal does not rush. It arrives when it is ready.
